Back in the 90’s, a dog named Dingo loved to chew on anything in his way. His owner, Les, decided that the best way to prevent him from doing this was to feed him chewy treats as well as giving him an indestructible dog toy to chew in the meantime. Dogs and puppies love to chew, which is why they chew our shoes and wallets. Les figured that the best way to deal with this issue was to give Dingo exactly what he wanted: dog chews!
Training any sized dog requires a lot of dog products and treats. Feeding your dog a bunch of milk bones or other larger treats can cause them to get sick, or worse. These small puppy bites can also gain unwanted weight, lose muscle growth (if no protein is given), and lose energy. With these smaller, protein-packed treats, you can reward your pet plenty of times without causing these side effects.
I didn’t realize you could make dog treats with only 2 ingredients, That’s awesome! All of the recipes sound great. I read some of the other posts, and I’m borrowing one of the ideas. My daughter is in a Girl Scout troop and her troop’s project is to volunteer at a shelter. I will check with the shelter and see if we can bring homemade treats. Thanks for all of the ideas!

What can you replace wheat germ with? I made these and I used a cup of oats that I ground to a powder in the food processor since I forgot to buy it and I had to make these treats on my day off…I also added peanut butter! I figured i’d ask for the next batch 🙂 they came out great and they are so healthy you did great research! Roxy and Mojo thank you!

Dogs of various breeds love this biscuit, so it is a handy one to bring during training. There have been no reports of allergies or adverse reactions. There were very few dogs, however, that didn’t like the treat and preferred other brands. Overall, this is one of the best healthy treats for dogs available in pet supply and online stores now that's also USDA certified.
These Milk-Bone Flavor Snacks are common training treats for puppies but do contain more preservatives than most of the treats we reviewed. Each box includes five different flavors: bacon, beef, chicken, sausage and turkey. The treats include 12 minerals and vitamins to help keep your dog healthy. Unlike the Greenies above, these treats are crunchy. They claim the texture helps clean your dog’s teeth and freshen breath. Since these are harder they’re difficult to break into smaller pieces, but if you can manage it, you’ll get 2-3 treats out of each bone. These treats aren’t our first pick for training treats due to the preservatives but the choice is ultimately up to you. These training treats for puppies are made in the U.S.A.

Fruits and vegetables – Green beans not only provide the crunch that your dog loves, they’re also low in calories. Apples and raspberries are also low in calories and high in fiber. This will not only promote good digestion, but will also give him a feeling of fullness.2 As a result, your dog might not attack the dinner bowl quite as hard as usual.
As you can see from the reviews above, most dog owners agree that canines love these breath freshening all natural dog treats, and the resulting clean teeth and overall dental health keep them coming back for more. Many pet parents feel the price (which is considerably cheaper on Amazon than anywhere else) is easily justified by the benefits of using the product on a daily basis.

Teaching your dog a new trick or house training her can be stressful. You may find that using treats is easier than dog training without treats. There are lots of things you can use as treats for your dog. In fact, some people use marshmallows, hot dogs or croutons, although we do not recommend these food items. We suggest sticking with snacks with that contain more natural ingredients and fewer preservatives. Below are some reviews of the best dog training treats.

Although the price is relatively affordable and seems acceptable to most pet parents, some customers recommend breaking every doggy treat into two pieces to get even more value per bag. A few customers have expressed their concerns about their dog refusing to eat these all natural dog treats, and some canines also had stomach problems after having the treat, including vomiting or gas. However, these cases seem to be very rare. Other customers also mentioned that the crumbly texture of these healthy dog treats can make a mess and that their dogs would rather play with these pet treats instead of actually eating them.
This means you'll need to do the math, but only once or twice, as you switch to new dog treats and new dog food. After that, always keep track of what type of best healthy dog treats you use, and how many calories each one of them contains, and how often you've spoiled your Fido. Choosing low calorie dog treats is key, and some – like Zuke's treats, mentioned below – may contain as little as 2-3 calories per their mini treat. For dogs, it's still a reward and a pleasurable experience, no matter how small the treat is.

Be aware that while most of the customers are very happy with these healthy dog treats by themselves, there's a lot of recorded proof of poor batches of these dog treats being sent out with white worms infesting the bag, with the last review coming from May, 2015. We suggest calling the manufacturer first, and always checking the FULL package before using these treats with your dog.
If you love your dogs, and they are a part of your family, DON'T feed these to them. Not if you care. We read labels to take care of our own health, so why would we feed our dogs just anything. I've switched to Blue Wilderness. The ingredients in that are: Salmon,Chicken Meal,Potatoes,Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols),Flaxseed (source of Omega 3 and 6 Fatty Acids),Calcium Ascorbate (source of Vitamin C),Vitamin E Supplement,Salt,Calcium Carbonate.
